JAKARTA - Indonesia Football Association (PSSI) finally inaugurated Luis Milla as the new coach for Indonesian national team.
Milla has become a strong candidate with Luis Fernandez to be the successor to Alfred Riedl which not renewed his contract after 2016 AFF Cup. Milla was finally selected after the last two days doing the final presentation to the PSSI in Jakarta.
High target from PSSI was charged to this former coach of Real Zaragoza. In this year he also will training Indonesia U-22 national team for SEA Games in 2017 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In that event, this 50 years coach of is targeted to bring young Garuda squad to be champions.
Surely, this is a very heavy burden for the former Barcelona and Real Madrid. Although, Milla had the experience to bring the U-21 Spanish national team champion the U-21 European Championship in 2011.
"I am very pleased with the welcome given since I arrived in Jakarta. It is important for me taking this job. This is a responsibility that is very important and I believe I can make up a good team," said Milla in a press conference held at the PSSI office, Jakarta, Friday (20/1).
"There was a bit of a problem with communication, but the important thing is to work very hard and professionally. I have undergone a very professional football trip in Europe. We will try to transfer that experience to the Indonesian national team players to achieve the desired performance," he added.
Reportedly, Milla also earn three times more than that received by Riedl when coached Indonesia in the AFF Cup 2016.
