JAKARTA - Head of Division of Mineral and Energy Resources at Ministry for The Development of Disadvantaged Regions, Faizul Ishom said that Raja Ampat, Alor Island and Ora Island in Central Maluku can be used as tourist icons.
"We will attract foreign tourists to visit underdeveloped regions, tourism destination that has been chosen is the sea. Well, we saw, in Eastern Indonesia is very potential because there is a lot of marine tourism destinations that can be offered, it can even become a national tourist icon," said Faizul in an official statement received by Sindonews.
In addition, the eastern part of Indonesia such as NTB, NTT and North Maluku are still largely categorized as disadvantaged areas. The region has tremendous tourism potential that can be developed to boost the local economy.
Meanwhile, the members of Ikatan Keluarga Alumni Lemhannas 49 (IKAL 49), Widodo Sigit says the role of mass media in the promotion alignments influence to encourage the development of tourism in the country. It's helpful to control and trigger local governments and investors.
According to Widodo, besides generating income as well as foreign exchange earner, the tourism sector is closely related to foreign investment.
Currently, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in the first half, the number of tourists or foreign tourists visiting Indonesia reached 4.65 million people, up to 2.34% over the same period the previous year 4.55 million people. These achievements only meet 44.7% of the target number of foreign tourist arrivals set by the government this year as many as 10.5 million people.
