RAKHINE - Conditions of 2,328 Rohingya refugees in Cox's Bazar District, Bangladesh which dominated by toddlers, children and the elderly had deteriorated. They have various diseases and some suffer gunshot wounds.

"Their poor health condition is worsened by the inadequate and inadequate environmental conditions. Plus the day-to-day rain continually. When there is no rain, the temperature is very hot because this area is a coastal area, "said Head of Baznas Disaster Response (BTB) Ahmad Fikri in Jakarta on Monday (24/10).

The refugees who come, he continued, mostly experienced cases such as malnutrition, diarrhea, pneumonia, fever, burns, gunshot wounds and acute respiratory infections (ARI).

According to Fikri, health posts are still minimal. For that, it needs an integrated health management concept with more suitable medical facilities and suitable with the situation and condition of the refugees spread in many locations.

After coordinating with the Indonesian Humanitarian Alliance for Myanmar (AKIM), he said, the BTB team supports the concept of mobile clinics with complete and mobile health facilities.

He pointed out that efficient faskes can be used such as a model of a garage clinic or a cabin clinic that uses the space using a container.

"This is more fitting and appropriate, because it can be placed in certain locations and when no longer needed, can be moved to another place," he said.

Fikri said the Baznas Health Post had been in the area bordering Myanmar since last week.

"Baznas medical assistance program for Rohingya refugees in Coxs Bazar is focused on Kuthu Palong area," Fikri said.

The BTB team, he said, is part of supporting the Indonesian Humanitarian Alliance (IHA) program. Baznas is supported by local medical volunteers consisting of eight doctors and six nurses.

Baznas Humanitarian Team itself has supplied groceries to a number of refugee tents. The aid is in the 'Food for Myanmar' package with 80 percent channeled which is a package of ten kilograms of rice, one kilogram of onion, salt, peanut, vegetable oil and so on.

The distribution location is focused on three dots ie at Nayapara Camp, Teknaf and Balukali. The Baznas Humanitarian Team also established several family shelter units as temporary shelters for Rohingyas refugees. Family shelter was built at Balukali Camp, Ukhiya, a border town in Coxs Bazar District, Bangladesh.
