BOVEN DIGUL - Have you ever imagine if far in jungle of Papua stands a modern clinic that has quite complete facilities like in the cities of Java?
The shadow turned out to be true. There's Korindo Group together with Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) managed to present a modern clinic named Asiki Clinic at Asiki village in border area of Indonesia-Papua New Guinea (PNG). This free clinic is intended for the Papua people and the community is not able to improve the quality of public health.
On an area of 2,929 square meters, this clinic has complete facilities such as outpatient, inpatient, delivery room, infant care/perinatology, ER, minor surgery room, ultrasound, pharmacy, and other facilities to the provision of ambulances.
The opening of the clinic was officially opened by Chairman of Korindo Group, Eun Ho Seung on Saturday (2/9). The inauguration ceremony was attended by Papua Provincial Government Officials, Boven Digoel, Chairman and members of the Boven Digoel House of Representative, Korean Consular for Indonesia, Chairman of KOICA Representative in Indonesia, Heads of Indigenous Society (LMA), and about 600 Asiki societies enliven this inauguration event.
"This is a concrete manifestation of the role of the private sector in contributing to the success of the Indonesia Healthy Program as an effort to realize Indonesian people who behave healthily, live in a healthy environment, and able to reach quality health services to achieve higher health status," said Eun Ho Seung, Chairman of Korindo Group.
This clinic which fully supported by the Government of Boven Digoel Regency expected to meet the needs of high quality health services and become the center of clinic referrals and surrounding puskesmas. It will also bring Internal Medicine specialist and child specialists regularly so that patients can be consulted.
dr. Firman Jayawijaya, Clinic Manager of Asiki added, initially this clinic was named Korindo Clinic which has been operating since 1994 ago. The development process itself begins with the first Stone laying event on February 23, 2016 ago.
"But in time, where the health needs are increasing, Korindo together with KOICA managed to build a larger and representative clinic," said Firman.
According to him, Korindo Group always seeks to bring health services closer to the community. So far it has set up 8 clinics in several places in the interior of Papua. This is expected to reduce the burden of the local people who want to get health services.
Understandably, before the clinics are built, to get health services, local people must go to Tanah Merah in Boven Digoel or hospitals in Merauke which travel time can reach 3 to 12 hours journey.
Asiki Clinic itself focuses on 8 priority programs: reducing maternal mortality, mothers and newborns through improving maternal, toddler and family planning services, improving people's nutritional status and controlling infectious diseases and non-infectious diseases environmental health.
Through this clinic will also develop the National Health Insurance (JKN) system, community empowerment and disaster management and health crisis, improvement of primary health care, improve safe and comfortable working environment and improve professional human resources.
