CILACAP - Some explosion that followed the emergence of black smoke occurred at Cilacap Pertamina Refinery Unit (RU) IV Cilacap, Wednesday (5/10) afternoon. Black smoke was visible from a distance of 3-5 kilometers from the refinery area.
Slamet Riyadi, a resident of Cilacap as quoted by Antara, said the blast sounded quite loud at around 12:25 pm.
"Some residents around Pertamina was panicked for a few moments after the explosion seen the black smoke rising so high. But now a cloud of smoke began to thin," said Slamet.
A worker who declined to be named said, the explosion occurred during recess time.
"Explosion loud heard once and to vibrate. The distance is the same so close with other tanks," he said.
When confirmed, Head of Communication and Relations Pertamina RU IV Cilacap, Ristanto Heru Widodo admitted their fire at a small tank in the refinery area.
"Small tank number 41 in the middle (refinery). Incident at around 12:25 pm and can now be dealt with," he said.
According to him, it is currently still investigating the cause of the fire, and the incident did not disrupt oil production RU IV Cilacap.
