ZURICH - FIFA's disciplinary committee has banned Worawi Makudi, former president of the Football Association of Thailand and a former member of the FIFA Executive Committee for three months for failing to comply with an earlier suspension.
FIFA said, the global soccer body's ethics committee in October had banned Makudi from all soccer activities for 90 days.
"The disciplinary committee found that Mr Makudi was still involved in FAT affairs during this period and has therefore decided to ban him from taking part in any kind of football-related activity at national and international level for a period of three months," a FIFA statement on Monday (22/2) said.
He also fined him 3,000 Swiss francs ($3,015) and issued a warning.
Thailand soccer officials elected a new president this month to replace Makudi.
The ban imposed on Monday will replace a 45-day provisional ban by ethics judges which was to expire on Wednesday. FIFA gave no details of Makudi's ongoing ethics case. He was on the FIFA executive committee for 18 years until being voted off last year.
For to known, Switzerland's attorney-general has opened an investigation into the bidding process for the 2018 and 2022 tournaments, part of a scandal which has engulfed football's governing body which will elect a new president on Friday.
