Unclear, US Reason for Banned TNI Commander

JAKARTA - The Embassy of United States (US) in Jakarta spoke about the banned of TNI Commander, General Gatot Nurmantyo to the US.
The US Embassy said that US Ambassador to Indonesia Joseph Donovan had communicated with Indonesian Foreign Minister, Retno Marsudi on this matter.
In a statement, US Embassy in Jakarta confirmed that Gatot would come to the US at the invitation of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Joseph Dunford, Jr. However, unfortunately the US embassy in his statement did not elaborate the reason for the ban.
"US Military Chief of Staff Joseph Dunford invited TNI Commander General Gatot Nurmantyo to attend the Chiefs of Defense Conference on Country Violent Extremist Organization (VEOs) which will be held on 23-24 October 2017 in Washington DC. General Gatot can not travel as planned," the US embassy said on Sunday (22/10).
"The embassy has been in contact with the General staff on this issue over the weekend, working to facilitate his travels. US Ambassador Joseph Donovan has apologized to Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi for his discomfort with General Gatot," that statement continued.
The US Embassy added that it is still ready to facilitate Gatot's trip to the US.
"We remain committed to the Strategic Partnership with Indonesia as a way to provide security, and prosperity for our nation and society," that statement added.
