BINTAN - Bintan Police Resort, Riau Islands (Kepri) arrested six people suspected perpetrators of smuggling 12 tons of suspected dextromethorfan powder on Thursday (14/9). 12 tons of suspected dextromethorphan powder was transported by three trucks and now secured East Bintan Police.
Bintan Police Chief, AKBP Febrianto Guntur Sunoto, through Vice Police Chief, Commisaris Dandung Putut Wibowo said, 6 suspected perpetrators were arrested in different places. Two perpetrators were arrested in Jakarta, and four perpetrators were arrested in Bintan.
"One suspect F initials was arrested in Jakarta, and one more suspect. Meanwhile, the four actors in here," said Dandung at Bintan Police office on Thursday (14/9).
He has not been able to name names of the fifth suspected offenders other than F.l
"Clearly we call the F network. Because we suspect F as the perpetrator's brain," added him.
Certainty whether the 12 ton powder is dextromethorfan or not, it is still waiting for the results of the Police Forensic laboratory of Riau Islands Police.
"The first strong suspicion is dextro. But there are allegedly two names that are similar to dextro. But the certainty awaits the results of the laboratory," said Dandung.
Associated with the three truck drivers carrying 12 tons of powder, continued Dandung, currently still detained in Bintan Police. The status has not been set as an actor, but still relates to the absence of documents explaining what goods are being transported.
"Currently driver have not been set up as perpetrators," he said.
Previously, East Bintan Police Sector (Polsek) threw out 12 tons of powder, suspected of drugs in dextromethorfan type at Sri Bayintan port, Kijang, East Bintan on Sunday (3/9).
The suspected dextro powder is transported by 3 trucks, with police numbers BP 8810 TY, BP 9430 DY, and BP 8726 BU. To fool the officers, the powder is put into the drums, allegedly will be sent to Jakarta.
The three truck drivers are currently detained by the Bintan Timur Police Criminal Unit (Bintim) because the investigation can not explain the origin of the dextro suspected powder.
According to police sources, allegedly dextro by Bintan Timur Police Criminal Unit, three trucks of cargo powder, coming from Batam to Tanjunguban, North Bintan (Binut) using roll on roll off (roro) ship. Arriving at the port of PT Sungai Lake and Pedestrian Transportation (ASDP) Tanjunguban the trucks continued their journey towards Kijang, East Bintan Subdistrict.
In front of the port of Sri Bayintan Kijang, police saw the suspicious signs of the truckload. When examined found dextro suspected powder. Because the driver could not give an explanation, finally members of the Unit Crime securing it to East Bintan police office.
