Eight Months, Bribes in Tegal City Government Rp5.1 Billion

JAKARTA - Results of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigation, total value of bribes that occurred in the neighborhood of the City Government of Tegal, Central Java reached Rp5,1 billion.
Known, the practice of bribery lasted 8 months or throughout January-August 2017 against three suspects.
"Lasting in stages, the total Rp5,1 billion," said Chairman of KPK, Agus Raharjo in the KPK building, Wednesday (30/8).
Bribery in the form of cash Rp300 million (Rp100 million in suspect's account) comes from the management of health funds Kardinah General Hospital, Tegal.
In the investigation, also traced bribes derived from a number of projects procurement of goods and services in 2017 in the Tegal municipal government. KPK also succeeded in identifying bribes from tributes of heads of agencies.
Deputy Chairman of KPK, Basari Panjaitan added that cash bribes (Rp300 million) from suspects CHY (Deputy Director of Kardinah General Hospital) were found in the house of suspect Amir Mirza Hutagalung (AMH).

Amir made his home as the head of the choice of regional head. Amir with entrepreneurial background as well as Nasdem Party politician is the right hand of Mayor Siti Masitha Soeparno. In upcoming 2018 elections Sitha and Amir plan to pair up as candidates for Mayor and Vice Mayor of Tegal.
Bribes originating from the procurement project of goods and services 2017 and tribute of heads of departments also for the cost of nominations for regional heads.
"Bribes Rp5,1 billion allegedly for the cost of candidacy for the 2018 election," Basaria explained.
As reported on Tuesday (29/8), KPK officially decides Mayor of Tegal, Siti Masitha Soeparno, businessman and politician Amir Mirza Hutagalung and CHY as the Deputy Director of Kardinah Tegal Hospital as a suspect. While five others who came from elements of hospital financial officials, personal assistant Sitha and AHM suspect driver is still a witness status.
