BANTEN - Tanjung Lesung Special Economic Zone in Banten is set to hold Rhino Cross Triathlon (Rhino X-Triathlon). This event is the first national cross triathlon in Indonesia. If you love triathlons and also like to explore culture and historical sites at the same time, Rhino Cross Triathlon is the right answer for you.
Set to be held from Sept. 23-24, the sports tourism event invites participants to explore the beauty of Tanjung Lesung while competing in the race.
"Sports has acted as a draw for many international tourists. Rhino X-Triathlon, which is set to be the country's first off-road triathlon competition, invites international and domestic participants, especially the triathlon enthusiasts. We invite them to take part in this interesting event, while enjoying not only the beauty of Tanjung Lesung's nature, but also Banten's hospitality and its legendary cultures," President Director of PT Banten West Java, Poernomo Siswoprasetijo said on Saturday (19/8).
Event Director Rhino X-Tri, Tense Manalu added, Road triathlon is developing rapidly and is garnering more and more fans. But if they want to participate in a Cross-Triathlon competition, they're going to have to go abroad because Indonesia has never held a multisport competition before.
"The Tanjung Lesung region is an ideal venue due to its beauty and challenging landscape. We have various treks, like hills, sandy beach, and muddy backroads," he said.
Tense explained that Rhino X-Tri, will have the competition for three age groupsand relay group. The groups are open for participants aged 20-39 years old. Master for participants aged 40 or older and Youth for participants aged 13-19 years old. Aside from Rhino X-Tri, Tanjung Lesung Festival is also the host of other sports events, namely Mountain Bike Cross Country Marathon (or MTB XCM), and Sunset Trail Run.
“The race consists of swimming, cycling and running phases. Our target is to have local and foreign participants in the event,” said Poernomo again.
The event, which is part of the Tanjung Lesung Festival, will also feature other activities including a challenge to break the Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI) record for the youngest diver carrying the national flag in the Sunda Strait.
