MILAN - AC Milan are close to completing a £61million move for Real Madrid striker, Alvaro Morata.
According to reports La Gazzetta dello Sport, claim the deal is close to completion with Milan set to continue their summer spending spree despite the reported fee being significantly below Real's asking price of £79m.
Morata has been a target of both Manchester United and Chelsea this summer but neither club has been able to agree terms, with the Red Devils subsequently turning to Romelu Lukaku as an alternative.
Milan CEO, Marco Fassone admitted the club continues to target a striker, listing Torino's Andrea Belotti and Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang alongside Morata on a shortlist.
"It'd be nice to have one from Andrea Belotti, Morata or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. We'll see who the choice lands on, even if there are also other names who haven't been splashed on the front pages yet," he said.
Speaking previously in relation to Milan, Morata has stated he could not betray former club Juventus by playing for their bitter Serie A rivals.
The three names on Milan's shortlist have all been linked with Chelsea this summer, with the Stamford Bridge club having already missed out on Lukaku following his move to Old Trafford.
Missing out on Morata would prove to be another blow to Antonio Conte, as he bids to replace outgoing striker Diego Costa, who is keen to force through a return to Atletico Madrid. The Spaniard has previous experience in Serie A, having spent two seasons with Juventus
Gazzetta reports Real Madrid have dropped their price for Morata as they intend to use the money to push their bid for Monaco starlet Kylian Mbappe, with the Ligue 1 side now said to value him at £130m.
If he does move to Milan, Morata will join a beefed-up Rossoneri squad which includes his former Juventus team-mate Leonardo Bonucci, as well as new signings Biglia, Franck Kessie, Andrea Conti, Mateo Musacchio, Ricardo Rodriguez and Hakan Calhanoglu.
