Head of Cipinang Prison Removed, Inmates Moved to Nusakambangan

JAKARTA - Existence of a special cell in Cipinang Prison, Jakarta, found by National Narcotics Agency (BNN) during on May 31, 2017 make Head of Cipinang Prison, Peter Kunto Wiryanto removed. Not only that, Head of Security Unity (KPL) Lapas Cipinang, Sugeng Hardono also removed.
"Head of Prisons starting today not activated, non jobs. Head of KPL also non jobs," said Minister of Justice and Human Rights
(Menkumham), Yasonna Laoly at Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Wednesday (14/6) .
In addition, he said, a number of Cipinang prison staff involved in providing luxury cell facilities to Haryanto Chandra alias Gombak, a prisoner of Class 1A who was sentenced to 14 years in prison for drug cases being examined by the Inspectorate General of Ministry of Justice and Human Rights.
"Who is responsible will we make hard sanctions, and moved away," he explained.
While Director General Penitentiary Kemenkumham, I Wayan Dusak, said Yasonna, will enter retirement in August 2017.
"He (Wayan Dusak, red) is ready to retire, eight months (August, red)," said Yasonna.
For the prisoner, Yasonna said if Haryanto Chandra alias Gombak transferred to Nusakambangan Prison, Cilacap, Central Java.
"Chandra was taken to BNN, later transferred to Nusakambangan, in a special cell," said Yasonna.
He said the Director General of Penitentiary Kemenkumham, I Wayan Dusak allowed raid of BNN.
"They (BNN) got into it with our officers, so it's not alone, there's no money inside, there's a modem, a wifi modem that means there's a kitchen set," he said.
He also claimed that his side had actually conducted a similar search by BNN in about two months ago.
"From Kakanwil report, two months ago has been operational as well, in March on the inspection too," he said.
