Suspected Acid Attack of Novel Baswedan Arrested

JAKARTA - Suspected acid attack to senior investigator of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Novel Baswedan has been secured by police. Jakarta Police arrested the alleged offender after requesting information from Novel who was treatment in Singapore.
Head of Public Relations Division National Police, Inspector General Setyo Wasisto said, suspected with initial AL was examined for questioning in General Crime Detective (Reskrimum), Jakarta Police.
"Yes at Reskrimum. (Not yet) suspect. Still being checked on other alibis," Setyo Wasisto said in Polda Metro Jaya, Jakarta, Wednesday (10/4).
According to him, arrest of AL because of evidence that the photo owned Novel.
"Yes, he (Novel) give photo. It means he remembers or sees so it is given to the team. The important principle of presumption is innocent," he said.
"We respect someone's right before he is proven to do that, we respect the presumption of innocence," he added.
Meanwhile, KPK will intensify coordination with the Police related to the arrest of suspect of acid attack to Novel.
Head of Public Relations Bureau of KPK, Febri Diansyah said, the suspected arrest of the perpetrator is a bright wind to unload the motive behind attack.
"For arrest of a suspected, we will coordinate further, hopefully this arrest will be the beginning of the disclosure of the attacker's brain against KPK investigators," Febri said in a short message on Wednesday (10/5).
KPK appreciate success of Jakarta Police arrested the alleged perpetrators. Currently KPK, said Febri, still waiting for official information from the police related to this arrest.
"We are waiting for the announcement from police, according to the Criminal Procedure Code, there are rules of arrest time to the determination of legal status," he said.
