JAKARTA - After legal decision to Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok), Vice Governor of Jakarta, Djarot Saiful Hidayat will appointed as acting governor of Jakarta.
As judge verdict, Ahok has to go through a period of detention that is not possible to perform his duties as governor now.
"Will assign Vice governor as Jakarta governor until October," said Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri), Tjahjo Kumolo at Ministry of Home Affairs office, Tuesday (9/5).
This afternoon letter of Djarot determination as acting governor will be submitted in Jakarta City Hall. This thing done for Jakarta government not disturbed and conducive.
"At 16.30 am at City Hall, Minister of Home Affairs on behalf of the central government gives letter of assignment to Vice Governor of DKI as Jakarta acting governor until legal decision is fixed or until the end of the term of office," he said.
As known Ahok sentenced to two years in prison by a judge related to cases of religious blasphemy. Once over convicted, Ahok directly sent to Cipinang prison, East Jakarta.
