JAKARTA - Judges at Central Jakarta District Court sentenced murder suspect Jessica Kumala Wongso to 20 years in prison on Thursday after finding her guilty of murdering Wayan Mirna Salihin by putting cyanide poison into Mirna’s coffee on Jan. 6 at Olivier in Grand Indonesia, Central Jakarta.
"The defendant has committed premeditated murder. The judge set the defendant is sentenced to 20 years. Setting the defendants remain in custody. The evidence will be destroyed. Charging a fee amounting to Rp5,000 trial to the accused," said Chief of Judge, Kisworo at the Central Jakarta District Court on Thursday (27/10).
Things weighed against the defendant, according to the judge, defendant resulting Mirna died and defendant heinous and sadistic.
In addition, according to the judge, defendant never felt sorry and did not confess. While it is considered to alleviate, the judge said the accused still young.

The judges give the opportunity to counsel Jessica to appeal within the next seven days. Jessica also said it does not accept the decision of the judges which according to him is unfair.
"I do not accept this sentence because it is very aligned. I will leave it to my legal counsel," said Jessica.
Jessica lawyer, Otto Hasibuan also expressed legal team will appeal against the judge's decision.
"There is a death knell in this trial. We are firmly going to file an appeal. We very much do not accept this decision," said Otto.
In line with the indictment, the judges concluded that Jessica murdered Mirna in revenge for repeatedly telling Jessica to break up with Patrick O'Connor, her former Australian boyfriend.
According to the indictment, Mirna advised Jessica to break up with Patrick because he was a violent drug user with economic difficulties. Mirna’s advice, according to prosecutors, offended Jessica.
