HAMPSHIRE - A rare sight and a rare look at Farnborough Airshow in Hampshire. Airbus demonstrate their new A350's take-off abilities. The new model rises rapidly after take-off making almost near-vertical progress.
“For passenger comfort the take off is normally much less steep with no dramatic turns," Aviation enthusiast, Colin Porteous (63) from Farnborough said.
“The aircraft performed a touch and go landing back at Farnborough after validation, but then departed to Toulouse in France. I suspect there would be a modest increase in G-force for the pilot,” he added.
Colin shot the footage on July 6, 2016 as the Airbus plane took off from runway 24 during the major industry event. The Airbus A350 - an extra wide bodied aircraft - can seat up to 325 passengers, has a range of 15,000 km and a wing span of 64.75 metres.
Last month it was reported that Airbus faces a challenge to meet delivery targets for the A350 jet this year due to problems with suppliers, the head of the European planemaker said.
Airbus still has to deliver at least 41 of the new long-haul jets to reach a target of more than 50 for the whole year, after a slow start blamed partly on shortages of seats and lavatories.
"The target remains a challenge because some of our industrial partners are experiencing difficulties," Fabrice Bregier, president and CEO of the planemaking division of Airbus Group told France's La Tribune daily in an interview.
Asked whether this meant problems and delays with cabin equipment from France's Zodiac Aerospace remained unresolved, Bregier said, "The situation is improving, but not enough to allow us to meet all our commitments. Improvement plans have been launched, but too late."
