1,500 Year Old Mummy Wear Resembles Sneakers

SIBERIA - Archeologists have found human remains that are 1,500 years old in Mongolia, and apparently they had fashionable taste in footwear back then.

The feet of the remains were wrapped in such a way that they resembled modern-looking sneakers.

Social media and message boards were abuzz about the Adidas-wearing mummy. Maybe time travel is not a myth, some people wrote.

"Did the Doctor lose one if his companions in the past?" wrote one person on Twitter, possibly referencing Doctor Who, the science-fiction favorite who travels through time, occasionally picking up companions along the way.

"You know that mummy that's been found 'wearing adidas'? It isn't. I count four stripes anyway so K-Swiss at best," another Twitter user cracked.

"Wow, this is an amazing and rather significant find and all people care about is how her shoes look like adidas?" someone complained.

The discovery is being praised as the first complete Turkik burial found in Central Asia.

"This is a very rare phenomenon," Khovd Museum researcher B.Sukhbaatar told the Siberian Times.

"These finds show us the beliefs and rituals of Turkiks."

In addition to human remains, archeologists found a saddle, a clay vase, a wooden bowl, the remains of an entire horse and other items, according to the newspaper.

"An interesting thing we found is that not only sheep wool was used, but also camel wool," the researcher told the paper.

"We can date the burial by the things we have found there, also the type of hat. It gives us a preliminary date of around the 6th century AD."
