JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Regional Operations (Daop) 1 adjust the train (KA) fare as of April 1, 2016. Where a number of economy class tickets decline an average of 5 percent.
Senior Manager (SM) Daop 1 PT KAI, Bambang S Prayitno said base rate reduction of 5 percent refers to the enactment of the basic tariff adjustment, as stipulated in the Decree of the Board of Directors of PT KAI KEP.U/II.003/XI/1/KA-2015 on 11 November 2015, on the terms and rates of passenger transport.
"There are five economic train from Pasar Senen out of Jakarta which decreased rate of around 5 percent from the previous price," said Bambang, Thursday (02/11).
Fifth chariot, namely KA Brantas toward Kediri down from the previous price of Rp 90 thousand to Rp 86ribu. KA Bengawan towards Purwosari falling from Rp80 thousand to Rp76 thousand. KA Gaya Baru Malam to the station Surabaya Gubeng, falling from Rp110 thousand to Rp106 thousand. KA Matarmaja to Malang down from Rp115 thousand to Rp111 thousand. Then, KA Serayu towards Tract and Purwokerto, falling from Rp 70 thousand to Rp66 thousand.
Bambang explained the decline in ticket for Rp 4 thousand stipulated in the Decree in Permenhub RI No 13 in 2016. The decision itself seemed to change earlier decisions, namely Permenhub No.198 in 2015 on the transport rates with economy-class train.
Referring to the two rules, Bambang ensure, passengers who have previously purchased tickets will receive a refund in accordance with the new ticket fare at the station of arrival.
"We expect the rate adjustment can improve the public interest to keep choosing rail as a mode of transportation at an affordable price," he explained.
Senior Manager of Public Relations of PT KAI, Komarudin Agus added that the policy is taken as a step in the Public Service Obligation (PSO). Because the fifth train ticket was included in the subsidy of Rp1,827 trillion spent by the Ministry of Transportation for 2016.
"The total subsidy increased 20% of 2015 from Rp 1.5 trillion," he said.
