JAKARTA - Indonesian public today were surprised by the LGBT-themed sticker on some social media messaging applications such as LINE, Facebook and WhatsApp (WA).

In LINE, this sticker titled "Love is Love", while on Facebook, this sticker featuring two men who seemed to be getting married. The image also features background pink heart-shaped large. Not only that, there are also two women who carry a children
sticker.

While in WhatsApp (WA), the pictures are displayed in the LGBT-themed small sticker. Among other like two men holding hands. There is also a sign of heart between two men or two women.

Related terms of appearance and emotion themed stickers Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT), the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (Kemeninfo) represent the Government has issued a warning to remove the stickers.

Head of Information and Public Relations Administrator Kominfo, Ismail Cawidu said it has coordinated with LINE representative in Jakarta. Picture messaging applications in general has appreciated the creators who made the stickers in the messaging application. But on the other hand, LINE also must observe the norms prevailing in Indonesia.

"Before LINE filter the LGBT stickers, they should first give explanations to the creators, that such content can not be opened in Indonesia," Ismail said through its official statement on Thursday (11/2).

He added, this time the stickers have been filtered LINE party so it can not be opened in the region of Indonesia. Meanwhile, Team Leader of Public Relations LINE Indonesia, Teddy Arifianto, also regretted the LGBT-themed stickers that made it uncomfortable LINE users in Indonesia.

"We ask for your understanding, because currently we are to resolve these issues, particularly in the removal process. Therefore, we also need a process to do that, we also need a confirmation to the creator because it is impossible to remove just like that," he said.

Teddy explained, during this LINE has always adhered to the global benchmark in filtering content that smelled sensitive. Therefore, it has removed the stickers.

"We are aware of how sensitive this matter and will work hard to ensure that things like this do not happen again. For that, we also have removed the sticker as from yesterday that the sticker was not circulating anymore," he concluded.
