LONDON - Come in, take a look around the Iron Lady’s not so humble abode. Margaret Thatcher’s final home is for sale for an eye watering £30 million. The luxury mansion has an exclusive Belgravia postcode and a bombproof door. Since the first British female PM lived there, the property has had a multi-million pound makeover by Leconfield, a luxury property development firm.

As reported by Mirror, Margaret Thatcher’s net worth was estimated at £11m at her time of death in 2013, £9m of which was attached to her Belgravia property. A number of Thatcher’s personal touches have been preserved, like the numbered plaque inlaid into the step and the entrance hall flooring features the same stones as lobbies inside the House of Commons.

The home features a study, dining room and a large reception room with a chandelier and large Louis XVI fireplace, one of many through the house. There’s a gym, a cinema room and wine cellar and a master bedroom which takes up the entire second floor. Staff accommodation options are available within the property’s further five bedrooms spread over five storeys. Estate agents predict the home’s value will increase because of the former resident.

Lady Thatcher, who was PM between 1979 and 1990, lived in the property until December of 2012, when the stairs became too much for her to manage. She later moved into the Ritz Hotel, a stay that was paid for by Ritz owners the Barclay brothers, where she died in April 2013 after suffering a stroke.
