JAKARTA - Directorate General of Mineral and Coal, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources affirmed, PT Freeport Indonesia will not receive an extension of an export license if bail progress of construction of the processing plant and refining of concentrate (smelter) are not paid.
Director General of Mineral and Coal Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bambang Gatot argues, until now there has been no response to Freeport on deposit of USD 530 million. In fact, export licenses Freeport ended today, January 25, 2016.
"There has been no response (Freeport security deposit). If today there is no response, no extension. Just like that," he said in the House of Representatives of Indonesia, Jakarta, Monday (25/1).
According to Bambang, depositing the money has actually do not have a time limit. However, an export license will be issued if the money has been paid.
"Anyway, if those conditions are met, an export permit is issued. It must be filled before then," he said.
As reported earlier, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Sudirman Said said, the terms PT FreeportIndonesia (PTFI) able to export copper concentrate. They must fulfill the obligations agreed upon the government to obtain an extension of the export license.
For information, export licenses should expire in January 25, 2016. One of the requirements that must be met Freeport is deposit some funds related to the construction of the smelter.
"These conditions we provide for the achievement of targets (development) smelter has not been reached. Therefore, we ask Freeport depositing money that should be spent to build a smelter that has been set by the government," he said in Jakarta, Wednesday (21/1).
Sudirman explained that, according to his calculations, the current completion of a new smelter 14 percent of the government's target of 60 percent and money worth USD115 million a year ago. So Freeport has to pay or deposit the difference so as to reach 60 percent.
"They have to deposit the rest. Although it has not been built in total, but the least if they deposited, they have committed," he said.
