Pre-Trial Granted, Suspect Status of Novanto Unlawful

JAKARTA - South Jakarta District Court (PN Jaksel) granted pre-trial filed by House Speaker, Setya Novanto. The pre-trial lawsuit was filed by Novanto to examine the status of suspected alleged corruption in electronic identity card (e-ID card) procurement.
"Judging, in the principal matter receives a pre-trial request from the applicant," said the pre-trial judge, Cepi Iskandar in South Jakarta District Court on Friday (9/29).
In its consideration, Cepi said the suspect's decision should be made at the end of the investigation stage of a case. It must be done to maintain one's dignity.
"Judge in opinion that the process of determining the suspect at the end of the investigation rights of suspect can be protected," Cepi said.
Cepi also said the evidence used in the previous case could not be used to handle the next case.
"After examining, the evidence is result of the development of the case of others namely Irman and Sugiharto," said Cepi
With the granting of this pre-trial petition, status of the suspect attached to the Chairman of Golkar Party is declared invalid.
In response to this decision, Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will issued new investigation order (Sprindik) to re-examine Setya Novanto.
"This is already regulated in the Constitutional Court. Soon we issue a new investigation order, "said Head of Legal Bureau KPK, Setiadi in South Jakarta District Court, Friday (29/9).
