Use of Cloud in State Institutions and Ministries Still in Minimum

JAKARTA - Not many know if the percentage of Cloud application usage in Indonesia, especially for government institutions and banking sector is very minimal. The reasons for unacceptable budget usage and data security are still the main reasons for this.

"Rent this apps is still taboo, it needs education, the ecosystem is interconnected, the budgeting system must be improved, the law must also be improved and education to the bureaucracy as well," said CEO of Indonesian Cloud, Noerman Taufik on sidelines of Indonesian Cloud Logo Rebranding and Launching Colosus in Jakarta, Tuesday (27/9).

According to him, need for personal and secure data storage space is increasingly. In today's digital age, such time and space constraints have been lost, all parties should take advantage of this era of digitalization as well as possible.

"Cloud it's like rent of content. That's still a bit taboo, although some things may, but in this case (data storage government, red) still not allowed. They often say, why rent server, why not we buy server," said Noerman .

He ensures, state agencies and ministries are still very minimal in use of this Cloud application

"Almost nothing, really small, below 10 percent," he said.

However, it is different from Singapore. In this neighboring country of Indonesia, the state ministries are already using the Amazon Cloud app, which is not their home-made app.

"Impossible Singapore government use Amazon if not safe," he said.

He also regretted the level of confidence of state institutions and government that still minimal in the application of data storage which made in Indonesia.

"If it (keep the data on the server abroad, red) happens here it can be chaotic. Government data can be stored in the data center overseas. Differnt with us, cause we stored in Indonesia. Supervised by cyber security expert team from Indonesia directly 24 hours a day, 7 days a week," he said.
