TOKYO - Indonesia failed to pass men's singles at the Japan Open 2017. The last representative of men's singles, Tommy Sugiarto failed to reach the quarter-finals after surrendering in the hands of Lee Chong Wei.

Shown at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium on Thursday (21/9), Tommy actually managed to show tight resistance in the first game. However, this Malaysian player finish Tommy's resistance with a score of 22-20, 21-17.

While in the women's doubles sector, Indonesia also failed after Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu fell in the hands of Japan's first seeded pair Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahasi in a three-set match.

Greysia/Apriyani actually stole the second game. However, after diving the game duration 1 hour 27 minutes, the pair finally gave up with a score of 21-15, 12-21, 21-15.

With these results, Greysia/Apriyani not only failed to step into the quarter-finals of Japan Open 2017. However, the results also make Indonesia without representatives in the women's doubles sector.

In mixed doubles, Praveen Jordan/Debby Susanto qualified for the quarterfinals after being forced to squeeze sweat by Indian partner Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Ashwini Ponnappa. After the game, both admitted less concentration at the beginning of the game.

Praveen/Debby was bothered in the first game. Not only that, they also got defeated in the second game before finally winning 29-27, 16-21, 21-12.

"Our first game made a lot of mistakes on our own, we had missed them 20 first, but we think more concentration one by one point, because they are not games yet," said Debby as quoted from the official website of PBSI.

According to Jordan, before the game they already anticipate the opponent will provide fierce resistance. Thus, the physical has been prepared when forced to play three sets.

"We've seen them at the Sudirman Cup, so there's potential for them so I have prepared to play three games, only in the first and second games we play their game," Jordan said.

In the quarter-finals, Praveen/Debby will face Taiwanese opponent Wang Chi-Lin/Lee Chia Hsin. Both have met at the Swiss Open 2017 which won by Praveen/Debby.
