JAKARTA - Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Agus Martowardojo reported to Ombudsman RI on suspicion of maladministrative related to BI plan to charge the top up of electronic money (e-money) to the consumer.

The lawyer representing Indonesian consumer, David Maruhum L. Tobing as a complainant considers the plan to reflect the central bank's alignment with entrepreneurs and cause injustice to consumers.

BI itself plans to issue rules related to the cost of top up e-money at the end of September 2017. The cost range is around Rp1,500 to Rp2,000 per one-time filling.

According to him, the rules are very detrimental to consumers. Therefore, consumers are required to use electronic money, but it is charged. Supposedly, what consumers receive is the efficiency rather than the addition of the cost.

Meanwhile, member of the Indonesian Economy of Ombudsman RI, Dadang Suharma Wijaya said, it will soon review on David Tobing's report. Including the alleged maladministrative for charging top up costs to consumers.

"We will conduct a review of the report whether there is an alleged element of maladministrative on the policy issued.After the examination and deepening, we can ask clarification to the parties either invitation or call on this issue because this is a matter of public concern as well. will see this from various angles, both consumer angle, banking, and financial regulation," he concluded.
