MAGELANG - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) proposed that the 'Penumpasan Pengkhianatan G30S/PKI' film was updated to make it easier for the younger generation to understand.
"Yes, watching movies, especially about history is important. But for millennial children now, of course, they should be made more films that can get into them," the president said after reviewing hanging bridge in Mangunsuko sub-district, Magelang on Monday (18/9).
"Let them (the younger generation) understand about the dangers of communism, let them know also about the PKI," added the President following plan of TNI Commander General Gatot Nurmantyo to play 'Penumpasan Pengkhianatan G30S/PKI' film in the internal scope of the institution.
The latest version of the 1984 film is expected to attract millenial generations to watch it.
"Yes it would be better if there is a new version, to be more current, to get into millennial generations," said the President.
TNI Commander, General Gatot Nurmantyo earlier stated that the Minister of the Interior had permitted when he ordered all his members to watch the film of the New Order era.
The TNI plan to hold a movie with 'Penumpasan Pengkhianatan G30S/PKI' movie was a polemic because there were those who considered the film not to be watched again, although there were others who supported TNI plan as an effort to remember Indonesia's history.
