Novanto Suspect Status Not The End of e-KTP Corruption Case

JAKARTA - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) immediately made five legal steps after the official announcement of House Speaker, Setya Novanto as suspect in case of alleged corruption of e-ID card (KTP) project.
KPK spokesman, Febri Diansyah said KPK, through Public Prosecutor has presented some evidence of alleged corruption of budget approval and procurement procurement project e-KTP at Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) in 2011-2012 during the trial of Irman and Sugiharto at Jakarta Corruption Court (Corruption).
After being analyzed by the prosecutor along with the investigation, then the title of case was then increased to investigation with suspect Setya Novanto.
"We believe there is sufficient initial evidence until we increase status (Setya Novanto becomes a suspect), part of which we have open process of trial," said Febri at KPK building, Jakarta, Tuesday (18/7).
He explained, after determination of Setya Novanto suspect status, there are about five legal steps that will be done by KPK in investigation of e-KTP case.
First, scheduling for examination of witnesses and Novanto as suspects. The names and scheduling will be delivered on the day of implementation.
"We will inform further information, of course we are waiting for information from the investigation team that has been appointed to handle this case," he explained.
Secondly, there will be a precaution to travel abroad. Previously said Febri, Novanto as a witness had been prevented abroad for six months to suspect Andi Narogong since April 10, 2017.
"But for the addition of overseas prevention for Novanto or related witnesses Novanto has not received the information," he said.
Third said Febri, KPK will conduct searches in a number of places. But he claimed to have received no information of which places will be searched. Even if a search is available it will be announced when the search is done or shortly after it is done.
Fourth, KPK will conduct asset tracking on behalf of Novanto.
"Certainly later investigation activities will be conducted same as investigations on behalf of Irman and Sugiharto suspects before, just like the investigation activities for AA suspects," he said.
And last, Febri outlines, determination of Novanto as a suspect is not the end of the alleged corruption case of e-KTP project. Because there are still alleged parties together Irman, Sugiharto, Narogong, and Novanti who committed a crime.
The next is also related to other parties who allegedly enjoy or receive flow of money allegedly corruption e-KTP project. Both at the stage of discussion and approval of budget in House of Representatives as well as the procurement process in Kemendagri.
"We are also doing an analysis on whether or not anyone else is allegedly involved in the investigation, so there are many things that can be done," he said.
