JAKARTA - Plan for removal capital city from Jakarta is no longer just a discourse. Minister of National Development Planning (Bappenas), Bambang Brodjonegoro said the details of removal plan had been discussed with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at State Palace on Monday (3/7).

In his latest talks with President, Bambang said study of the removal, including funding scheme will be completed this year.

"So...in 2018 or 2019 there has been an activity related to transfer of central government administration," said Bambang at Bappenas office, Jakarta.

There are a number of things that need to be studied before start of process for moving capital city. Starting from location, estimation of funding until the urban planning. Furthermore, Bappenas will lead other ministries and agencies to implement this plan.

"Bappenas who lead together with Ministry of Public Works. Of course with other ministries," said Bambang.

According to him, it takes about three years for the government to make a city into the capital.

"It may take 3-4 years to complete all basic infrastructure and government buildings," Bambang said.

The basic study of the removal of the capital city is the fact that economic development in Java is not balanced when compared with other islands.

Development in Java is higher than in other islands in Indonesia. If the results show that the capital is moved to another city, then the government office is transferred there. There will also be a Presidential Office and a ministry office. Meanwhile, Jakarta will become a business and financial center.

However, Bambang is reluctant to mention details of which city will be the administrative center. Previously, the
circulated news that capital city will be moved from Jakarta to Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan.

The discourse of the transfer of capital city to Palangkaraya was first initiated by first President of Republic of Indonesia, Soekarno and brought back by President Jokowi.
