Malaysia Holds Massive Raid for Illegal Workers

KUALA LUMPUR - Indonesian Citizens Protection Task Force Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Kuala Lumpur urges unlicensed Indonesian workers (TKI) to register voluntarily home rather than be subject to raid of Malaysian Immigration.
"To the Foreigners Without Permission (PATI) Indonesian citizens to register for voluntary home program. Besides being cheaper, PATI also does not have to be imprisoned and go home through Immigration Depo," said Indonesian Citizens Protection Task Force of KBRI Kuala Lumpur, Yusron B Ambary in Kuala Lumpur, Sunday (2/7).
Malaysia's Immigration office massive raided in large-scale of illegal workers from Friday night (30/6) in connection with the end of the E-Card Temporary Employee registration program.
Yusron also appealed to Indonesian citizens to always carry valid documents when traveling to avoid the wrongful arrest of Malaysian Immigration authorities.
On various socialization occasions, Yusron asked unlicensed migrant workers not to underestimate threat of Malaysian Immigration who carried out massive raids against workers from 15 countries including Indonesia.
But Indonesia Embassy also hopes to the Malaysian government to not only raid illegal workers, but also to employers and agents of Indonesian migrant workers.
"So it will feel justice because so far only migrant workers are targeted but the master is free," he explained.
A total of 1,035 PATI's including three children were detained nationwide due to Massive Operations conducted by Immigration Office after the E-Card enrollment program expired.
Those arrested came from 3,393 PATIs examined at 155 premises including in Sabah and Sarawak.
Of these, recorded from Bangladesh 515 people, Indonesia 135 people, Myanmar 102 people, Philippines 50 people, Thailand five people, Vietnam two people and the rest others.
