Badung Regency Maximizes Voluntary Compliance of Local Taxpayers

JAKARTA - Badung Regional Government (Bapenda Badung) and Cartenz Technology Indonesia (Cartenz) signed Project Charter which marked commencement agenda for transformation regional tax administration system agreed upon within framework of Tax Revenue Administration Modernization and Policy Improvement in Local Governments (TRAMPIL) program.
The agreement that began on June 22, 2017 is a modernization agenda initiated by Asian Development Bank (ADB) through funding of Swiss Confederation State Secretariat of Economic Affairs (SECO).
"Project Charter between Bapenda Badung and Carstensz was conducted based on a resolution to provide support in transforming Bapeda Badung administration, local taxes are modern, efficient and credible through improved quality of service in order to maximize voluntary compliance among taxpayers," said Chief of Bapenda Badung, I Made Sutama in Jakarta on Wednesday (28/6).
The signing of this agreement was done by Head of Bapenda Badung, I Made Sutama and Director of Carstensz, Gito Wahyudi at Carstensz headquarters, Jakarta witnessed by Regent of Badung, I Nyoman Giri Prasta, Director of Revenue and Capacity of Local Finance at Directorate General of Fiscal Balance (DJPK) Ministry Finance Republic of Indonesia, Lisbon Sirait, representative of SECO, Remy Duiven and representatives of ADB's Indonesia Resident Mission, Deeny Simanjuntak.
Cartenz TRAMPIL program implemented aims to support the Central Government to improve the regulatory framework as well as the local revenue mobilization capacity building in implementing the system and the new framework.
Furthermore, DJPK in TRAMPIL program will play an important role in supervising the institutional transformation and local tax administration system.
"This is good evidence of strong commitment Central Government and Local Government in the original increase the area through improved tax policy and administration area," said Regent of Badung, I Nyoman Giri Prasta.
Regent of Badung also convey, one important component that needs to get priority in the modernization of local tax administration is updating of potential tax data, so that Bapenda Badung able to perform tax functions more systematically and accurately.
"In addition, it is hoped that project can improve transparency and accountability of Bapenda Badung to taxpayers and other stakeholders," added Prasta.
PT Cartenz Technology Indonesia itself is an information and communication technology company that aims to provide accountability and transparency through innovative technology solutions, integrated use of information systems, and reliable business process management.
Since January 2017, Cartenz has been appointed by ADB to provide technical support on tax administration, strengthening organizations and human resources, and improving business processes and developing information technology to four selected local tax administrations, including Bapenda Badung.
On the next occasion Cartenz will sign the Project Charter with Regional Tax Administration of three other elected local governments, namely Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta, Municipal Government of Bandung and Government of Balikpapan City.
