YOGYAKARTA - All elements of society are required to participate in the state defense program, even not in war condition.
"The state defense program should not always be interpreted in terms of a war," Defense Minister, Ryamizard Ryacudu said in front of audience on Colleges Coordination Meeting in Yogyakarta, recently.
He also optimistic hiring plans of 100 million state defend cadres in next two years were able to materialize.
"We now have a cadres from Student Regiment (Menwa) and Scouts around Indonesia. That was how, just add how much longer. In the next two years I guess," he said.
The minister remarked that defending the state could be demonstrated by garnering international recognition for Indonesia.
"Moreover, it can be realized by ensuring success of the younger generation in various fields at the international level," he stated.
On the occasion, he shed light on various points related to the state defense program. The minister also highlighted possible threats that could arise in future.
"We urge all parties, especially academics, who can help to create a formidable generation to defend the unitary state of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI)," he pointed out.
The minister remarked that the university had an important role in instilling values of nationalism in the younger generation.
It also emphasized him in front of students of SMA Taruna Nusantara (TN), Magelang, Central Java.
"You also need to become agents of change and pioneer attitude and behavior of State Defense, the pioneer of the spirit of unity and diversity. Believe that Pancasila is the ideology of the best for Indonesia, which is a blessing of God Almighty and excavated from the nature of life and culture of Indonesia," Ryamizard said when briefing students of SMA TN in Magelang, Thursday (19/1).
As a valuable asset of this nation, the Defense invites TN high school students to continue to learn, practice and work.
"Do not be arrogant and feel superior and smarter than others but you have to thrust with all components of the nation for the future of the state and nation exist on your shoulders," Defence Minister message.
