Burns All Over, Injured Toddler Dies

SAMARINDA - One of four toddlers severely injured in Sunday's bomb attack on Oikumene Church in Samarinda, East Kalimantan — Intan Olivia (2) died on Monday morning at Abdul Wahab (AW) Syahranie hospital. Intan sustained severe burns all over her body.
"Why Intan helpless, her burns up to 78 percent. Adults, over 45 percent is not helped. It's heavy. Moreover, this is a baby," said Director of AW Syahranie Hospital Samarinda, Rachim Dinata.
In addition to burns, Intan also experienced trauma after explosion.
"He also inhalation. So a closed windpipe, lungs swelling. Besides (the influence of) explosion, also inhale smoke bomb that also affected her lungs," said Rachim.
Victims are now taken to her home in Ciptomangunkusumo road, Gang Jati 3 RT 27 Harapan Baru Village, District Loa Janan Ilir, Samarinda. The plan's Intan will buried tomorrow while waiting for family to come.
As reported earlier, a blast hit occurred in Jalan Ciptomangunkusumo, Sengkotek Village, District Loa Janan Ilir, Samarinda. Performers put a bomb right in front of the Oikumene church. Five of the victims in this incident, all of which are children under five.
Another victim, Triniti Hutahaya (4), was still being treated in the hospital's intensive care room, AW Syahranie hospital spokesman Febian Satrio said.
Meanwhile, toddlers Alvaro Aurelius (4) and Anita Kristobel (2) are being treated at Moise hospital after sustaining burns.
The Samarinda police have arrested a man who allegedly threw Molotov cocktails into the parking lot in front of the church in Sengkotek subdistrict.
