Ready Work Labor Still Lacking, BFI Supported 'Rumah Jahit'

JAKARTA - It is undeniable, unemployment rate in Jakarta area which ranges from 9.94 percent is still relatively high compared to the average percentage of unemployment in Indonesia, which touched 6.25 percent according to statistics from the Central Bureau of Labor Statistics (BPS) in 2013.
This has encouraged the various parties to provide ready access to the labor force in order to have the qualified skills in order to compete in the world of work. Through partnerships with YCAB Foundation, PT BFI Finance Indonesia Tbk (BFI) show commitment to prepare the workforce that has the skills. One of them with operational support 'Rumah Jahit' located in Duri Kepa, West Jakarta.
PT BFI commitment shown by donation worth Rp214.450.000 to YCAB Foundation to support the operation of 'Rumah Jahit' YCAB for one year. The operational funds will be allocated for the purchase of teaching materials, fireplace classrooms, purchase of supporting tools and some other purposes.
"There should be a maximum benefit in supporting the improvement of vocational education for young people to help improve the welfare of their families, as well as the provision to be able to live independently in the future," said President Director & CEO of BFI, Francis Lay Sioe Ho after symbolically donation to the 'Rumah Jahit' to Veronica Colondam, CEO and Founder YCAB in Jakarta, recently.
To note, the 'Rumah Jahit' is one part of the House of Learning Development (HoLD) which is the main focus YCAB in education. 'Rumah Jahit' has produced graduates who have job readiness, both for employment and entrepreneurship category for underprivileged young people.
"We have always emphasized that the skills become extra points for underprivileged young people in order to compete. By providing these skills, we not only talk about education, but also to prepare them to be financially independent," said Veronica Colondam.
On this occasion, several volunteers helped prepare YCAB sewing material in the form of recycled jeans that will be used for the manufacture of home sewing products.
