JAKARTA - International Film Festival for Environment, Health, and Culture (IFFEHC) goes to Jakarta again. This festival is one of the largest environmental festival in Asia Pacific with participants coming from various countries across the world, announced Best Film Nomination.
IFFEHC Best Picture nominations this year are:
1. Brussels, the Wild Side, directed by Bernard Crutzen
2. HOME, directed by Yann Arthus-Bertrand
3. My Name is Salt, directed by Farida Pacha
4. Ruben, directed by Frederik Wolff Teglhus & Anders D Jordan
5. A Knee Up, directed by Jeremy Kagan
HOME works director from France, Yann Arthus-Bertrand and produced by senior director Luc Besson (Taxi, Lucy, Nikita, The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc, The Lady, The Fifth Element, Atlantis, etc.) is a documentary film predicted by many as 'the movie world changer'.
Theme of his film is environment around us that have been broken and how to fix it. The film is one which has changed many of the world community to better care for the environment. HOME narrated by the director along with actress Salma Hayek, Oscar-nominated actress 6; Glenn Close, Jacques Gamblin, and actress from China; Zhou Xun.
Other candidates winning film, My Name is Salt, a documentary film on the observation female director Farida Pacha on life and family struggles salt farmers in a desert area in Gujarat in order to produce the best salt. This movies made in the span of eight months of this presents a stylish cinematography and 'hypnotize' about simplicity, hard-working, bitterness, and a process to produce salt itself.
These movies are competing with the film by Jeremy Kagan, A Knee Up. Jeremy Kagan himself is a senior Directors Guild of America which is an association that houses the entire film director in the United States. A Knee Up movie itself is a short film about father who was 'upset' at having to undergo knee surgery, so be grumpy to his family.
Other winning candidate is a film by director Frederik Wolff Ruben Teglhus & Anders Drud Jordan, which tells of a man who can not imagine his life if he does not live in the woods. The winner of the festival will be announced on May 30, 2016.
"I hope that with this festival, can build awareness to the whole world of the importance of protecting the environment. I also hope that this festival can be a platform for the entire arts workers who want to make changes through the film," said Damien Dematra as the founder and director of this international festival.
The festival itself is the result IFFEHC cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (Ministry LHK). The festival became part of the celebration of World Environment Day (World Environment Day) conducted by the Ministry LHK. World Environment Day was declared by the United Nations (UN) and the warning performed worldwide every year on June 5.
The festival is also in cooperation with the Asia Pacific International Filmmakers & Awards (Apifa), World Film Awards (WFA) and the International Film Festival For Family, Against Drug Abuse and Trafficking (IFADAT), as well as the full support of the Board of Creative People (DKR), Russian Culture Centre , World Film Council, the i-Deal International Volunteers and the Child Care Foundation Indonesia and Radio Republik Indonesia as a media partner.
