79 Percent Panama Papers Data Matches with DGT

JAKARTA - Finance Minister, Bambang Brodjonegoro found a 79 percent match of data a number of names citizen mentioned in Panama Papers and data by the Directorate General of Taxation (DGT).
"We found similarities 79 percent (name) in Panama Papers. It is believed to have accounts abroad and this year will be the rule of law. As in year, DGT will do law enforcement ," he said at the working meeting with the Commission XI of the House of Representatives in Jakarta, Monday.
Bambang asserted that the Ministry of Finance through the DGT will clarify the data associated with the names of citizens who are believed to have offshore accounts based on the match.
He said the Directorate General of Taxation will catch the names that exist in the data match although name in question has been carrying out his tax liability.
"What we would like to ask why these assets are not reported. Essence Tax Amnesty" is reported assets which have not been reported in the tax return, including accounts or fixed assets (fixed assets)," said Bambang.
According to him, the list of names owned DGT has not fully complete, which is only collected in the two countries. Meanwhile, on the other hand, the new automatic data exchange will be done in 2018.
"And we believe that deposits exist in more than two countries. We are only able to access in 2018 due to the automatic exchange of information," said Bambang.
Therefore, he expects the government's plan to impose the Law on Tax Forgiveness and automatic information exchange in 2018, the citizen who is suspected of having accounts abroad could return the assets to Indonesia through repatriation.
