NEW YORK - More and more celebrities and sportswoman take body paint in sports illustrated swimsuit edition. The latest, Lindsey Vonn is the third sporting beauty to appear in this year's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition joining Caroline Wozniacki and Ronda Rousey, Mirror reported today.

The Olympic alpine skiing champion stripped off for the beach photoshoot and was covered with nothing but a painted-on bathing suit. The American proudly posted the nude pictures from the magazine shoot, along with a video of her doing pull ups while wearing nothing but the body paint and a pair of high heels, on her Instagram page.

Vonn, 31, said she was delighted to appear alongside Wozniacki and Rousey in the edition: 'Proud to be in this issue with such strong, beautiful and amazing athletes! 'Size doesn't matter, be confident in your own skin! Big thx to @mj_day @darciebaum @fredericpinet @therealmarissajade @joannegair for making this all happen!'

Vonn wasn't alone in being pleased with the results, with Wozniacki proudly posing with the edition at a launch event in New York on Monday.

Taking to Instagram for a picture alongside two of the women behind the shoot the Dane wrote: 'With the beautiful ladies who helped me look my best in this years @si_swimsuit issue!! @mj_day @joannegair thank you!!'

Wozniacki, the former fiancee of golf star Rory McIlroy, also posted two pictures from her shoot - which see her pose on a beach in nothing but red paint. This was the second year in a row that the 25-year-old appeared in the edition, being shot last time out in a white bikini.

Rousey, 29, also appeared in last year's edition for the first time but was handed a place on the cover for 2016 after becoming the biggest star in the UFC - despite losing her bantamweight title in November. Rousey is a cultural phenomenon,' she told Sports Illustrated. 'She is the perfect combination of beauty, brains, brawn, humility.

'She possesses a spirit bigger than the space around her and it is both infectious and inspiring. She's a Pheonix, as fiery and beautiful as any mythical creature ever depicted.'

Rousey is no stranger to causing a stir with magazine covers, having appeared naked in ESPN Magazine's body issue in 2012 as well as becoming the first woman to appear on the cover of boxing's Ring Magazine last year.
