KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia has raised security alert to the highest level following the blasts in Jakarta, Indonesia. According to the Royal Malaysia Police Twitter on Thursday (14/1), those suspected to be linked to terrorist activities are also being monitored.
“Increased security measures are in place at public places such as shopping malls and tourist spots, while extra precautionary actions will be implemented in border areas to prevent possible infiltration by terrorist elements,” Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said in a statement.
Those on the police radar as being related to terrorist activities would also be closely monitored, said Khalid.
Earlier, Prime Minister Najib Razak said on Twitter that the country was willing to help "in any way".
"Deeply shocked and saddened by the bomb attacks in Jakarta," wrote Mr Najib. "Malaysia stands ready to help in any way. Thoughts and prayers are with the Indonesian people."
Added Malaysia Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai on Twitter: "My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of this shocking incident. Please stay safe everyone. #prayforjakarta".
