Mattis to Create Space Development Agency to Support US Space Force

WASHINGTON - US Secretary of Defense James Mattis will create a new Space Development Agency to support the US Space Force, Vice President Mike Pence said on Tuesday.
"The Secretary of Defense will create new joint organization - the Space Development Agency," Pence said at a meeting of the National Space Council.
Pence said the new agency will be "free from bureaucratic structures" and will provide the US Space Force cutting edge warfare capabilities they need faster and more effectively.
In June, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order for the United States to begin creating a new Space Force, despite a 1967 treaty signed by more than 100 nations that bans the militarization of space.
