JAKARTA - Regarding guarantee and legal certainty in investing, PT Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper (RAPP) confirmed asking the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (Kemen-LHK) to reconsider the revocation of PT RAPP Business Plan (RKU).

Decision of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (Kemen-LHK) revoking RKU PT RAPP requires the company to stop operating because it is considered not to comply with peat regulations on the latest industrial plantations have a major impact on various sectors.

"Since receiving second warning letter, as a responsible company, we are obliged to inform the heads of contractors, suppliers and partners of the situation in order to remain calm and after the Revocation Decree of the RKU, we also appeal to the union to keep the atmosphere conducive and did not conduct rallies," said Head of Corporate Communications PT RAPP, Djarot Handoko in Jakarta on Monday (23/10).

He continued, revocation of RKU had a major impact on thousands of direct labor and tens of thousands of indirect workers as well as to creditors, suppliers, contractors, customers and the whole community associated with the company's business activities and the survival of the company.

"Our group is export-oriented and generates foreign exchange to the country of approximately US$1.5 billion or Rp20 trillion per year. RAPP also directly responsible to more than 15,000 employees and more than 35,000 partners," said Djarot.

Until now, RAPP invested Rp85 trillion to support the downstream industry downstream program. RAPP has also made new investments by constructing paper and rayon (textile) factories which reach Rp15 trillion so that the total investment from upstream to downstream reaches Rp100 trillion.

Not only that, RAPP always comply with regulation and also fulfill KLHK request to revise RKU. Not only that, RAPP has submitted several revisions of the RKU to KLHK several times, but the proposal has not been approved because the harvested timber plantations (HTI) should not be replanted.

"Since the RKU was canceled on October 16, 2017, as a law-abiding company, PT RAPP stopped all HTI operations," he concluded.
