When Zakat Also Become Dakwah in Baduy

JAKARTA - Zakat is not only part of the effort to share the sustenance, but can be part of dakwah (propagation).

As did the National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) in Ramadhan this year. Through series of Ramadhan 2017 programs, Baznas will perform Ramadan with Baduy tribe in Banten.

In this program, Baznas will send lecturers (da'i) to mobilize Islamic da'wah, foster order and increase motivation of Islam in the Islam converts community in Baduy.

"Zakat fund which collected by Baznas will be used as a medium of dakwah without neglecting tolerance for Baduy tribes who still follow their religion," said Chairman of Baznas, Bambang Sudibyo in Jakarta, recently.

Not only that, zakat can also take care of aqidah Muslims who can not afford. The way is through Ramadhan Happy Package program, where Baznas provide assistance to the recipients of zakat (mustahik) in the form of basic food packages worth Rp250 thousand which will be delivered directly to the mustahik through online motorcycle service.

"We want glorify the mustahik and to avoid the queues and stampede during distribution of zakat," continued Bambang.

Baznas itself, Bambang said, has a responsibility to ensure proper and transparent distribution to zakat givers (muzakki).

"The success of the distribution will lead to the process of gathering. The muzakki will trust the zakat institution that successfully succeeded in distributing zakat according to sharia," said Bambang.
