JAKARTA - Visits of Saudi king, Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud to Indonesia in addition to bringing economic investment mission, expected to straighten out the wrong views of Middle East public about Indonesia.
According to Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK), the seventh Saudi Arabia king visits was able to give a correct understanding to the Arab community, that Indonesia is not a backward country as they think.
"So we want to change perception, image that Indonesia is a developed country. So do not measure all how (investment), because we want the long-term," said JK after the departure of King Salman at Halim Perdanakusuma air base, Jakarta, Saturday (4/3).
According to JK, Saudi Arabia people generally imagine Indonesia only by Indonesian workers (TKI) working in the country. Especially informal workers who came from several regions in Indonesia.
"They preception, Indonesia is backward country because we just send migrant workers," said JK
But JK admittedly, King Salman and his entourage were surprised after seeing Jakarta as a reflection of Indonesia. In the capital, they saw many skyscrapers are scattered in several locations in Jakarta.
"That there are slums, yes. But the tall buildings was more here than Riyadh or Jeddah," said JK.
