BIN Evasive, Origin of Tapping Become Question Mark

JAKARTA - State Intelligence Agency (BIN) responded associated polemic alleged wiretapping is touted by a lawyers team and defendants alleged case of blasphemy, Basuki T Purnama (Ahok) to the conversation Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) with Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) KH Ma 'ruf Amin.
Deputy VI Communication and Information BIN, Sundawan Salya said, in truth, BIN never wiretapping to sixth president of Indonesia, SBY. So, BIN also denied if called help Ahok to get a recording of a conversation between SBY with Ma'ruf Amin.
"The preliminary information about communications intercepted is not from us. Therefore, it becomes the responsibility of lawyers and Ahok himself," said Sundawan in Jakarta, Thursday (2/2).
According to him, BIN can not be arbitrary in intercepting someone. There should be the case and the specific purpose before stalking others. In addition, under the Act No. 17 of 2011 on State Intelligence, BIN charge of maintaining the national security system to maintain the integrity of Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
"It must be related to the safety of the state. If it is for personal use, is clearly prohibited. We must attach great importance to human rights. Tapping is done only to external threats to the country," he said.
Sundawan added, Ahok itself has clarified that the conversation between Ma'ruf Amin with SBY obtained from online media portal which interviewed the Islamic religious leaders directly.
"So, it was confirmed that he (Ahok), if he does not get that from our institution," he said.
