HONGKONG - British banker who killed two prostitutes in Hong Kong tortured one of his victims for days before making her lick the toilet and cutting her throat, a court was told today. Rurik Jutting (31), even filmed the degrading of his victim on his iPhone, the country’s High Court was told.

The former trader pleaded guilty to the manslaughters of sex workers Sumarti Ningsih, known as ‘Alice’, and Seneng Mujiasih, known as ‘Jesse’, when he appeared in court. But he denied their murders on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

Prosecutor John Reading told the court the manslaughter plea was not accepted and the case would proceed to trial on the murder charges. Both victims were found in Jutting’s high-rise apartment close to Hong Kong’s infamous Wan Chai party district in November 2014.

Ningsih (23) was found stuffed into a suitcase on Jutting’s balcony, having been dead for up to a week. And Mujiasih (26) was found dead hours after meeting Jutting for the first time. Both women had had their throats cut. The upmarket apartment where both Jutting lived and both women were killed

“After torturing her for three days, he took her into the bathroom, had her kneel in front of the toilet bowl and, with her hands tied behind her back with his belt, made her lick the toilet bowl," he told the court.

“Then he cut her throat with a serrated-edged knife. She did not immediately die so he dragged her into the shower and continued to saw through her neck until she was dead,” he added.

After recording a sick video saying how much he had enjoyed the killing, Jutting then put the mum-of-one into a suitcase and out onto his balcony.
Five days later, he called police in a cocaine-fuelled paranoia having killed Ms Mujiasih, the court heard.

He picked Mujiasih up in Wan Chai and took her back to his 31st floor flat nearby. He had made a gag out of rope and a condom, the jury was told, and hidden knives under cushions on his sofa.

“At some stage, Miss Mujiasih apparently saw the gag, stood up and began to shout at the accused," Reading said.

“He grabbed her and pulled her to the floor. He took one of the knives and held it to her throat, telling her if she continued to call out and struggle, he would cut her throat. She continued to struggle and shout and he cut her throat.”

Jutting, it is alleged, then hid on a neighbour’s balcony before calling the police himself, convinced “special forces” were trying to arrest him.

He later told officers he had gone “hunting for prey” and that Mujiasih was it.

“This is a horrible case. Even for those used to dealing with such cases, it is still shocking," Reading said.

“Most of the evidence is not in dispute. This is probably a unique case because so much evidence in the prosecution case comes from the accused himself.”

In the dock, Cambridge-educated Jutting, of Chertsey, Surrey, cut a much slimmer figure to the bloated and bearded look he had when he was arrested two years ago. He admitted preventing the lawful burial of Ningsih.

The parents of murder victim Ningsih have demanded that Hong Kong executes whoever is eventually found guilty of killing her.

Ahmad Kaliman (58) was also quoted by the BBC's Indonesian language service as saying he desperately wants Hong Kong to send his daughter's body home once the investigation into her death is completed, rather than bury her in the territory.

He said he and his wife Suratmi only found out about the brutal killing when Jutting made his first court appearance on Monday, two days after the bodies were found.

'There is nothing that can be done – it is destiny," Kaliman told the BBC's Indonesian

He added: 'I appeal to the government to help repatriate my daughter.'
