Indonesia Culture Able to Decorate Ramadan in Egypt

CAIRO - To strengthen the cultural cooperation between Indonesia and Egypt, Embassy of Indonesia in Cairo staged 'Ramadan in Style' to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan on Monday (20/6), through a cultural performance infused with Islamic influences.
The Ambassador of Indonesia, HE. Helmy Fauzy said that the Indonesia as the biggest Muslim populated country in the world has many cultures and arts influenced and inspired by the Islamic values. While Mr. Reda el Wakil, the Artistic Manager of the Cairo Opera House said that Indonesia is the most active country participated and cooperated with the Cairo Opera House.
On that occasion, the Embassy presented a video on the tradition of the Indonesian society in celebrating Ramadan and staged various cultural performances: Nasyid, Rampak Bedug, Zapin dance and Marawis which successfully enchanted hundreds of audience in Small Hall, Cairo Opera House. Two religious songs (nasyid) by the students from the IPQI (the Indonesian Association of Qari and Qariah) opened the Ramadan Lifestyle in Indonesia.
The next performance, Rampak Bedug by the students of Banten, which usually performed to celebrate Ramadan and Idul Fitri has showed that Indonesia has a valuable cultural heritage. The harmony of drums (bedug) and the martial arts performance put the audiences in awe. The Zapin Dance by the North Sumatera’s students has also etched a good image of the Indonesian traditional dance.
The closing performance of the night was the Marawis which creatively choreographed by the students of Banten. The team performed beautifully though according to the Head of Bantenese Students (KMB), Nurul Ahmad, they self-taught themselves without a professional trainer.
"Ramadan in Style is the annual event held by the Cairo Opera House. This year event, six countries participated in the Ramadan in Style, Indonesia, Tunisia, Sudan, Palestine, China and Bangladesh," said Lauti Nia Sutedja, Head of Media and Socio Cultural Affairs of the Embassy of Indonesia, Thursday (23/6).
In addition, she said that the Embassy and the Indonesian students in Egypt are always work hand in hand to introduce and promote the Indonesian culture in Egypt.
