JAKARTA - Indonesia men's singles, Tommy Sugiarto was eliminated from Indonesia Open 2016 after losing from Hong Kong men's singles, Wei Nan in first round.
Tommy who eighth seed lost in two straight games 16-21, 14-21 in 34 minutes and this was the fourth defeat Tommy from the world's 17th-ranked player in five meetings.
"My preparation for the Indonesia Open is only briefly after the Thomas Cup in 2016. I can not release all of my abilities as they should," Tommy said after the match at Senayan stadium, Jakarta, Wednesday (1/6).
Since first game, Tommy was not even able to equalize on Wei Nan, 0-2, 2-9, and 7-11. After break, Tommy also continues to lag behind the 32 year old player 9-16, 10-18, until the first game 21-16 seized Wei Nan.
Former PBSI national training athletes was trying to rise in the second game with a 4-2 lead and a couple of times to equalize at 8-8, 10-10, and 13-13.
However, Wei Nan playing stronger not want to miss the chance to step into the second round match. While Tommy a few times to make mistakes until the end of the second game 14-21.
"I made many mistakes that should not happen. Supposedly, I can gain points from a game opponent. But, I just lost the one-two punch," said the 28 year old player.
Tommy admitted his main target is Olympics Rio 2016 from June to July 2016.
"It was part of a tournament that I follow. I did have to follow the Indonesia Open 2016 as each player will get a fine if you do not participate in this tournament," said Tommy.
Tommy admitted not ensure participated in badminton tournaments in Australia as the last tournament before the Olympics Rio superseries level.
