YOGYAKARTA - Former Malaysian Prime Minister (PM) Mahathir Mohamad will receive an honorary causa (HC) doctorate from the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY). HC doctoral conferment will be conducted on March 17, 2016 on the UMY campus.
Rector of UMY, Bambang Cipto said Doctor HC grace was given to former Malaysian Prime Minister is due to their work in the field of world peace. Doctor HC boon for this Mahatir comprise the first time received former Prime Minister of Malaysia.
"Thought he (Mahathir) related to any peace inspired many. Especially his efforts through the Mahathir Global Peace School (MGPS)," he said, recently.
UMY, according to him, established the MGPS has been since the last few years in collaboration with Perdana Global Peace Foundation Foundation (PGPF).
"Through this agency he is concerned with the peace," he said.
According to Bambang, through the grace of Doctor HC side also wants to contribute to world peace related.
"As we know that he has always voiced peace through forums peace. The hope with this title he gave could continue campaigning for peace to the whole world," he said.
Meanwhile, Indira Prabasari, Head of Cooperation UMY and Events Coordinator conferring the degree of Doctor HC said, former Malaysian prime minister will also deliver a speech at the award ceremony.
Some of the figures who will attend the Doctoral boon for Mahatir HC is the Governor of Yogyakarta Special Region, Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), the Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia, and Muhammadiyah figures.
