SWITZERLAND - Two high ranking officials World Football Federation (FIFA) just arrest by the Swiss and the United States authorities in respect of investigations of alleged corruption in progress. That FIFA's head of high ranking officials suspected as Alfredo Hawit, president of CONCACAF, and Juan Angel Napout, President of of CONMEBOL.
Arrest made morning at the Baur au Lac hotel, one of the most classy hotel in Zurich, Switzerland, Thursday, December 3, 2015 local time. This arrest is a continuation of the same investigation. Authorities arrested 18 football officials from various organizations around the world in May.
As reported by the New York Times, after the raid, a manager of the hotel told guests in the lobby so they had to leave the place and conditioned it as an "extreme situation".
Meanwhile Sportsmole writing, the President of CONCACAF, Alfredo Hawit and CONMEBOL President, Juan Angel Napout is two FIFA officials were arrested in connection with allegations of money laundering, fraud and racketeering.
This was confirmed in a statement from the Swiss authorities which confirms that two FIFA officials have been arrested for allegedly accepting bribes of millions of dollars. The statement also mentioned, the officials accused of accepting money in return for selling the marketing rights to the World Cup qualifiers as well as the football tournament in Latin America.
"The two FIFA officials arrested in Zurich on the instructions of the Federal Office of Justice were today also given hearings by the Zurich cantonal police on the U.S. arrest requests," the FOJ said in a statement. "They are opposing their extradition to the USA."
Meanwhile, Reuters clearly indicate that Alfredo Hawit and Juan Angel Napout was arrested.
"The two FIFA officials arrested in Zurich on the instructions of the Federal Office of Justice were today also given hearings by the Zurich cantonal police on the U.S. arrest requests. They are opposing their extradition to the USA," said Switzerland's Federal Office of Justice (FOJ).
The FOJ said it would now ask the United States to submit a formal extradition request within 40 days.
