JAKARTA - Vice President Jusuf M. Kalla stated The APEC Summit is expected to discuss efforts to improve the economic condition in the Asia-Pacific region.
"Every region has experienced sluggish economic conditions. We hope that this cooperation could improve productivity, the public's purchasing power, expand the market, and increase investment," Kalla stated at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, here, Tuesday before leaving for the Philippines to attend the APEC Summit, Tuesday (17/11).
Economic cooperation, investment, and trade will be discussed during the summit, he remarked.
"APEC is a forum that discusses economic cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region," he added.
Kalla, on behalf of President Joko Widodo, is scheduled to participate in the APEC Summit that will be attended by 21 leaders of the APEC members. Themed "Creating the Future: Better, Stronger, Together," this year's summit will be held on November 16-18 in Manila, the Philippines.
The summit in Manila will bring together APEC leaders from the world's most dynamic economies, speakers from the world's top companies, and over 700 CEOs from across the Asia-Pacific region.
The program will feature two days of discussions, presentations, and dialog on a wide range of issues that will impact the future development of the region, including innovation, trade, sustainability, and disaster resilience.
