Regent of Nganjuk Arrested KPK in His Region

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed the arrest of Regent of Nganjuk, Taufiqurrahman conducted in Nganjuk, East Java.

To note, today the KPK did make arrests at two crime scenes, namely Nganjuk and Jakarta.

"The team is securing elements of regional heads in their areas," KPK spokesman, Febri Diansyah told at KPK Building, Jakarta on Wednesday (25/10).

Previously circulated news if Taufiqurrahman arrested shortly after attending the briefing of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the Merdeka Palace. Growing news KPK picked this Chairman of DPC PDIP Nganjuk in Jakarta.

In fact, Taufiq was arrested after he arrived at Nganjuk. Febri revealed there were 15 people who secured. They come from elements of regional, officials and private sector.

Some of them, including Taufiqurrahman, were arrested in Nganjuk. While others are secured in Jakarta. They were arrested during a bribery transaction allegedly related to the mutation of positions and permit analysis on environmental impact (Amdal).

Is Taufiqurrahman's wife, Sekda Jombang Ita Triwibawati also secured? Febri claimed not to know that. He argued the examination was still running.

"The examination took place at the local police station," he explained.

Information who circulated, examination also took place in East Java Police. The investigation team will also continue the examination at the KPK building, Jakarta.

Within 1X24 hours, the KPK will ascertain the status in question, whether set as suspect or just as a witness.

"Tomorrow (26/10) we will conduct a press conference," Febri concluded.

Separately, Secretary General of the Central Executive Board (DPP) of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Hasto Kristiyanto admitted that PDIP has repeatedly reminded Taufiq in his position as Regent of Nganjuk not to mess with unlawful behavior.

In fact, the position of Taufiq in PDIP has also been discharged from the position of Chairman of DPC PDIP Nganjuk since January 26, 2017 because of the discipline factor.

"The concerned has been given an organizational sanction and released from the post of Chairman of the DPC since January 26," Hasto said in a written statement on Wednesday (25/10).

As a form of assertiveness, PDIP gives sanction to Taufiq. In Nganjuk Election, his side did not give recommendations that Taufiq fought for who wants PDIP to nominate his wife.

"PDIP is firm, does not nominate the figure desired by Taufiq'," said Hasto.
