JAKARTA - Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) plans to implement even-odd system in some toll roads during moment of Idul Fitri 2017. This is to anticipate the frequent congestion during homecoming.
Director General of Land Transportation Kemenhub, Pudji Hartanto revealed, the current plan of even-odd application is still in the study. The government will decide in late May 2017.
"There will still be no decision, on May 31 will be meeting again," he said at the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs office, Jakarta, Tuesday (9/5).
President Director of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, Desi Arryani revealed that until now there has been no decision regarding the even-odd application of toll roads during moment of Idul Fitri 2017. Later, Coordinating Minister of Marine Affairs, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan who will decide whether to use the system or other ways to parse congestion.
"It is still 50:50 already, there is MTI, Kakorlantas, Director General of Land Transportation, still 50:50. It's still reviewed, then on the 31st Coordinating Minister (Luhut Binsar Panjaitan) decided," he added.
If the odd-even system is implemented, he continued, the toll road section that will be implemented is the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road. However, it is also still considering the odd-even enforcement considering the volume of vehicles at the time was very high.
"The consideration, the owner of the vehicle is also high at the time. So it will be decided yes or not," he said.
